A Little Birdie Told Us
"We loved learning about all the birds of Yucatán! Our favorite part of the tour were the surprises along the journey that made it feel exciting."

Tour Overview
This trip takes us to the southern hills of Yucatán, directly into the ancient Ruta Puuc, a collection of Mayan archaeological sites. Our first stop will be the secluded site of Oxkintoc, home of ancient pyramids, palaces and temples. From there we will do some moderate hiking at the nearby grutas: vast, open caves that feature glyphic writings painted on the ceiling. Both destinations are perfect for birding in the hills, and we will be looking for the groove-billed ani, bat falcon and several species of hawks throughout our trip.

Birds: Bat falcon and several other species of hawks, groove-billed ani, motmot
Terrain: Hilly, rocky, brushy, shaded (challenge level: 4/5)
